Description |
| The Georgia Department of
Human Resources (DHR), Division
of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Addictive Diseases
(MHDDAD) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Certified
Peer Specialist Project Director to provide management
of the Certified Peer Specialist Project. |
|
Under General Supervision
of the Consumer Relations and Recovery Director provides programmatic
oversight of project activities. Ensures the project meets their
testing and training schedules. Develop, coordinate and provide
training to support consumers in learning about self-help, recovery,
and peer support. Assist Georgia’s consumer with self-advocacy,
consumer involvement, program evaluation, and participation in peer
support programs.
Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field
by reading appropriate journals, books, and other literature. Applies
new knowledge to performance of others responsibilities. Create
evidence based research around peer support services and recovery.
Delivers basic core training using a variety of techniques based
on class needs. Provide certification of consumers that meets state
guidelines. Provide ongoing support and training through Continuing
Education opportunities on a quarterly basis. Coordinate and contribute
to the evaluation process on the Project’s impact on promoting
health. Ensure compliance to grant deliverables and its goals and
objectives via partnership with the GA Mental Health Consumer Network.
Assist with training and performance improvement activities for
CSB’s and other providers in recovery and peer support. Respond
to consumer complaints regarding services. Partner with DMHDDAD,
Regional Hospital, and or State Office Staff to facilitate resolution
as necessary. Maintain and improve statewide communication for CPS.
Find innovative new ways to strengthen the communication between
certified peer specialists. Transportation of materials to trainings
and projects, which requires the ability to lift heavy items.
Support the GA Peer Support Institute and the Georgia Mental Health
Consumer Network as a partner and in the organization’s goals
for training all consumers in recovery tools. Support projects that
utilize peer staff or CPSs, as staff and leaders. Participate in
all work activities as a team player.

Qualifications |
|
Minimum of two years of
college coursework and:
- Experience as a Certified Peer Specialist
- Well grounded in consumer values, empowerment, and self-determination
- Knowledge of the consumer movement history
- Knowledge of factors that aid in recovery
- Understanding of the role of GMHCN in creating peer initiatives
- Understanding of the Georgia Mental Health System
- Experience or Skill as a Trainer
- Good Communication Skills, Verbal and Written
- Ability to use Office, Word, and Excel

Qualifications |
| Preference will be given to
candidates, who in addition to meeting the qualifications listed above,
possess the following: |
- Experience as a CPS working in the Mental Health System
