Job Description

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is a new agency that was commissioned on July 1, 2009. Formerly known as the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Addictive Diseases. The new agency will continue to provide these services to the citizens of Georgia - but with a different organizational/operational structure.

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, (DBHDD), is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Epidemiologist (Hourly Position) for the Office of Suicide Prevention Program.
Under general supervision for the Suicide Prevention Program of the Department of Behavioral Health will work independently to plan, develop, and conduct epidemiologic surveillance relating to suicide, suicide attempts, and suicide prevention. Collects, analyzes, and interprets statistical data and prepares epidemiologic reports relating to suicide, suicide attempts and suicide prevention in Georgia. Provides training and consultation relating to epidemiology and surveillance relating to suicide prevention.
Qualifications

Completion of a Masters Degree in Public Health, Allied Health or Biological Sciences AND two years of experience performing epidemiologic work.
OR
Completion of a Bachelors Degree in Public Health, Allied Health or Biological Sciences AND three years of experience performing epidemiologic work.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates, who in addition to meeting the qualifications listed above, possess the following:
  • Experience working with behavioral health statistical data
  • Experience working with statistical data relating to suicide
Benefits
This is a hourly position and will be paid $25.00 an hour. The incumbent will average between 20-25 hours per week.

Note: There are no benefits associated with this position.
