Oracle Database Administrator
Office of Information Technology

Job Description

The Georgia Department of Human Services, Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Oracle Database Administrator based in Atlanta, Georgia.

Under limited supervision provides technical hardware, operating system, and database software support in the form of installations, upgrades, problem determination, and maintenance for all database platforms managed by the client. In addition, must be able to administer Oracle Suite Applications and be familiar with the cloning and patching processes. Assists programmer/analysts with applications development related to database usage. Assists technical support staff/vendors with installation, upgrades or problems related to the database environment. May supervise other Oracle Database Administrators.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or a related field AND Three years of experience in support of an operating system, database management system or a related field OR Two years of experience at a level equivalent to the lower level (ITP031)
Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the qualifications listed above, possess the following:

Five plus years experience as an Oracle DBA with Oracle 8i, 9i and 10g.
• Manage a technical team of database administrators and application
support engineers supporting Oracle databases and applications
• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP certification).
• Real Application Cluster (RAC) experience is a must
• Experienced with data migration, data cleansing, data scrubbing.
• Experience using DBA tools such as Quest (Spotlight), Veritas (Backup Exec, Net Backup), Computer Associates, Embarcadero, ER/Studio, ERWin, etc.
• Interface or database back end development with PL/SQL and SQL Plus.
• Experience with Disaster and/or Data Recovery Planning.
• Experience building or maintaining data warehouse/data marts a plus.
• Experience developing, documenting and enforcing DBA standards.
• Experienced working within a structured “best practices” development environment and software development life cycle (SDLC).
• Experienced overseeing database administration support for production, development, and test environments.
• Implement and enforce security for all of the Oracle Databases
• Design, implement, manage, and maintain security and disaster recovery systems to protect
• Administration of Business Objects, development and support
• Maintain all databases required for development, testing, and other non-production usage
• Perform the capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases
• Perform ongoing tuning of the database instances as required
• Install new versions of the Oracle tools and any other tools that access the Oracle database. (e.g. TOAD, SQL Developer, Pervasive)
• Plan and implement backup and recovery of the Oracle database for non-IBM supported non-production environment
• Perform database re-organizations as required to assist performance and ensure maximum uptime of the databases
• Enforces and maintains database constraints to ensure integrity of the database
• Administer all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures
• Provide support for current Dept of Child Support Services data warehouse project
• Assist with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects
• Troubleshoot problems per the databases, applications and development tools
• Provide support for upcoming projects (Document Imaging and Sourcing projects, etc)
• Modifies database programs to increase processing performance (performance tuning)
• Analyze data and generate meaningful management information
• Develop, manage, and maintain database libraries, dictionaries, and tables
• Design and maintain views, procedures, functions, forms, templates, queries and reports
• Link disparate databases and map into a common data warehouse
• Maintain links and mapping
• Provides problem diagnosis and resolution with minimal business impact
• Ability to work effectively at multiple levels of the organization and with multiple project teams
• Strong knowledge of unix

Note: Current state employees are subject to the statewide salary plan administration practices. This position is a pay grade 18 on the statewide salary plan.
