Description |
| The Georgia Department
of Human Services, Office
of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking qualified candidates
for the position of Programmer
based in Atlanta,
Georgia. |
| This position will have
lead responsibility in the completion of software enhancements,
code development, process and code reviews on web platforms for
the DHS Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) web application
and Constituent Services Portal. Under general supervision and with
high level technical expertise, monitor day to day operation on
the windows platform and work with the state’s vendors to
improve the application response, ensure consistent upgrades and
initiate platform appropriate change control processes.
Additional responsibilities include: Writing, correcting, and making
modifications to various OIT supported applications across many
programming languages and platforms, Working effectively with OIT
customers to learn specific design requirements and perform analysis
and design of computer applications, Assisting in the overall analysis
and design of information technology systems
Acting as technical liaison between information technology staff
and internal and external customers, Demonstrating continuous effort
to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work
processes, and work cooperatively, Analyzing, interpreting, and
presenting technology solutions to prepare design specifications
in a technically acceptable and cost-effective manner, Conducting
analyses and interpreting research findings to conceive solutions
to functional problems, and reduce abstract ideas to easily understood
procedures, Producing written technical documentation
Performs complex coding in VB.NET and T-SQL.
Demonstrate expertise in VB.NET, ASP.NET, Crystal Reports and Oracle
10g. Oracle 10g work includes creating/updating procedures and packages.
Performs technical analysis and troubleshoots existing objects to
identify and implement resolutions to user-reported defects
Follows team standard development practices for coding style and
function.
Participates in development and design meetings with analysts, database
personnel, and testers.
Leads individual enhancement efforts, proposing solutions and coordinating
deadline-intensive work, Creates and maintains Functional Requirement
Documents, Interfaces with users on escalated issues, business requirements
gathering, and user acceptance testing sessions, Documents code
fixes and modifications, and testing instructions, Excellent communication
skills, the ability to effectively analyze technical options and
make prudent decisions. Motivated and able to work in a fast-paced
dynamic environment.

| Qualifications |
Bachelor's degree from an
accredited college or university in computer science or a related
field AND four years of programming experience OR Associates degree
from an accredited program AND five years of programming experience
OR three years of experience at the lower level or position equivalent
(ITP011).
*An in depth knowledge of various programming
languages like Oracle, SQL, MySQL, .NET and Java.* |
| Preference will be
given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the qualifications
listed above, possess the following: |
An
in depth knowledge of various programming languages like Oracle, SQL,
MySQL, .NET and Java.
Experience with projects of moderate to high complexity in multiple
technologies and functions
Experience managing multi-platform projects
Experience with MS Project, SharePoint, and MS Office
Experience working in state government |
