Description |
| The Georgia Department of
Human Resources, Division
of Public Health is seeking an Clinical
Laboratory Technologist for our Georgia Public Health
Laboratory (GPHL)/Waycross. |
| Under general supervision,
performs a wide range of laboratory tests defined as high complexity
by the 1988 Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) in order
to obtain data for use in medical diagnosis and treatment. Analyzes
specimens, interprets and records testing results, and reports findings
to designated personnel. Repeats tests as necessary to ensure accuracy
and consistency of results. May act as a lead worker or supervisor. |

Qualifications |
Certification as a Medical
Technologist, MT (ASCP), or equivalent certification that meets the
personnel qualification requirements pertaining to "Technologists"
specified in the Department of Human Resources rules for licensure
of clinical laboratories. Note: Clinical
Laboratory Technologists assigned full-time pre-analytical (for example,
central accessioning or media preparation) OR post-analytical (for
example, reports and cleanup) duties are NOT required to meet state
and federal (CLIA '88) laboratory licensure requirements for technologists/testing
personnel, but must meet all other minimum qualifications (as stated
above) AND have an additional year of laboratory experience. |
| Preference
will be give to applicants who, in addition to meeting the above requirements,
possess the following: |
- B.S. or M.S. in Microbiology, Medical Technologist or Biology.
- Four years full-time experience in a clinical laboratory to
include experience conducting assessments and evaluations based
on regulations, legal requirements and/or recognized accreditation
standards
- Extensive relevant computer experience with Laboratory Information
Systems and Microsoft Office
- Experience in development and trouble shooting of new assay
protocols
