Job Description |
| Fast-paced
communications office seeks highly motivated self-starter with a
minimum of 8 years experience in public and media relations and
crisis management. Our office seeks a good strategic thinker to
initiate research and work independently. Qualified applicants must
possess impeccable writing skills and solid experience in speech
writing, interaction with executive level management, press release
and correspondence writing. Writing samples are required.
The Georgia Department
of Human Resources, Office of Communications, is seeking qualified
candidates for the position of Speech
Writer. |
| This position
will be administratively assigned to the Office of Communications
Services (OCS).
The Speech Writer must be able to work directly with senior executives,
to determine what points, themes, positions, or messages the executive
would like to cover. The speechwriter will be expected to conduct
their own research on the topic, and to flesh out this framework
with anecdotes, and examples. The incumbent needs to be able to
accept feedback and comments on the different drafts of the speech,
and be able to incorporate the proposed changes into the draft.
The speech writer may have to be able to work on several different
speeches at once, and manage their time so that they can meet strict
deadlines for finishing the speech on time. |

Qualifications |
| Completion of
a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, advertising,
Public Relations or a closely related field at a four-year college
or university and four years of demonstrated professional experience
in a communications position (compensatory, internship, co-op, etc.)
evaluated as germane to success in the job. Note: Experience may
substitute for education on a year-for-year basis, if evaluated
as equivalent
In addition to the qualifications, the ideal candidate will have
one or more of the following:
• Impeccable writing skills
• Demonstrated experience in speech writing, press release,
and correspondence writing
• Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects at one
time as well as stay within strict timelines
• Demonstrated ability to explain very complex information
in simple, straight forward and informative ways
• Strategic thinker able to initiate research and work independently
• Excellent speaking skills

| In addition to
a competitive starting salary ($65,000 - $70,000/based on
education & experience), we offer a generous benefits

is located in downtown Atlanta.
We are located adjacent to Underground
