Web and Graphics Specialist

Job Description

The Georgia Department of Human Services,(DHS) was formed in July 2009 as part of the reorganization of the former Georgia Department of Human Resources, which had served Georgia since 1972. DHS delivers a wide range of human services designed to promote self-sufficiency, safety and well-being for all Georgians.
The department is one of the largest agencies in state government with an annual budget of $1.8 billion and 10,000 employees. DHS is comprised of 3 Divisions and 7 Offices.
The Office of Legislative Affairs and Communication is seeking a Web and Graphics Specialist.

Under general supervision, researches and implements web technology to create and/or maintain web sites.

The Web and Graphics Specialist will be responsible for redeveloping the Agency's website and Intranet using tools such as Vignette, Drupal, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Once completed the individual will be responsible for the day-to-day updates and maintenance of the Agency websites and Intranet.

Creates, develops and maintains visually aesthetic static and dynamic pages to communicate agency/divisional information. Corrects problems on the functionality of the web site. Proofs and edits existing web-based and related media content. Creates and maintains current links to internal and external web-based information. May proof and edit existing text-based content in electronic, print or other multi-media. Meets with customers and vendors needing web and/or print-related assistance or work. Conducts formal and informal web consultation for internal and external staff and customers. Monitors and responds to email as the public contact to the webmaster for Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) web site.

Additionally, the individual will be responsible for creating brochures, flyers, PPT presentation and other educational materials for public distribution using the Adboe Creative Suite and other graphic software. The individual will also assist with communications writing assignments on an as needed basis.

Qualifications
Completion of a bachelor's degree in Web Design, graphic design or a related field from an accredited college or university OR Two years of experience in designing, editing, and maintaining a business web site.
Preference will be given to candidates, who in addition to meeting the qualifications listed above, possess the following:

• Experience in Social Services/Human Services field
• Knowledge of and experience with MS Office, PDF, Windows 2000 administration, Windows XP administration, Adobe Creative Suite, Drupal, PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator, Microsoft Access (database development), Visio, SharePoint, network management, XHTML, CSS, ASP, ASP.NET, XML, MySQL and knowledge of (CMS) software, both open-source (such as DotNetNuke) and proprietary CMS software (such as Vignette).

Note: Current state employees are subject to the statewide salary plan administration practices. This position is a pay grade 15 on the statewide salary plan.
