Job Description

The Georgia Department of Human Services, Office of Financial Services (OFS), is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Revenue Accountant 3 in the Funds Management Section. Come join an exciting team!!
The Georgia Department of Human Services,(DHS) was formed in July 2009 as part of the reorganization of the former Georgia Department of Human Resources, which had served Georgia since 1972. DHS delivers a wide range of human services designed to promote self-sufficiency, safety and well-being for all Georgians.
The department is one of the largest agencies in state government with an annual budget of $1.8 billion and 10,000 employees. DHS is comprised of 3 Divisions and 7 Offices.
This position is responsible for daily cash flow management for the agency. It specifically manages cash disbursement requirements and draws from Federal grants and State allotments. It is a mission critical function for the funding of DHS client services.

In addition, to cash management, the position is expected to accurately record and reconcile all cash related activities on a timely basis. It is a major contributor to the reporting of grant status to the Federal government and the bank reconciliation process.

Finally, the Revenue accountant is expected to be a key contributor and advisor for the agency's Revenue Manager. Solid accounting knowledge, efficient data mining skill, strong analytical ability, and results oriented work ethic are all critical elements for success.

Qualifications
Completion of a bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university AND Two years of professional accounting experience OR Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in a business curriculum which included completion of introductory and intermediate accounting sequence AND Three years of professional accounting experience OR Completion of a Master's Degree in accounting AND One year of professional accounting experience
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the above qualifications, possess the following:
  • Strong skills in Excel Spreadsheet Preparation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft
  • Access knowledge
  • Self-Starter, high energy, willing to grow with an organization
  • Eager to learn

Note: Current state employees are subject to the statewide salary plan administration practices. This position is a pay grade 15 on the statewide salary plan.
